INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OFBIDIRECTIONAL CAIR DRIVE VALVECair Drive allows intravenous injections or intravenous or arterial blood sampling to be performed while eliminating the risk of blood exposure accidents and creating a closed system that guarantees reduced risk of infection.1 - DisinfectionBefore using the infusion line in any way, it is necessary to disinfect one’s hands: rub with an alcohol solution or wash with a soap in accordance with relevant protocols.In order to guarantee that the infusion line is free from contamination, the Cair Drive must be disinfected before and after each injection or collection. We recommend using an alcohol-based product: chlorhexidine, povidone-iodine. A contact time of 15 to 30 seconds is required.2 - ConnectionAll 6% Luer slip or 6% Luer lock infusion devices are compatible with the Cair Drive :- Device with 6% Luer slip: push the fitting on as far as possible, then rotate 1/4- turn to secure the connection.- With a 6% Luer lock: screw on completely.- With an adjustable-ring Luer lock: push the Luer fitting on as far as possible, then screw down the adjustable ring to secure the connection.NOTE :If Luer slip devices are used, it is necessary to remain near the patient the entire time that the injection is being performed.Luer lock connections should be checked at least once per day.3 - RinsingWe recommend rinsing the Cair Drive with at least 2 to 5 mL of an isotonic solution after any repeated injection or blood collection.
